Two-Disc Hallmark Review

As a big fan of movies, I've seen my fair share of Hallmark features; especially during Christmas season (am I right?).  This week I received a copy of a two-disk special feature of two different Hallmark movies: "The Sweeter Side of Life" and "Meddling Mom".  I was given the disk in order to write a review post on it through the Entertainment New Media Network.  If you want to learn more about the network you can read my past posts about two of our projects (The Bounce Back and Josh Henderson) or look at our website.  I'm a proud member of the network, and I can't wait to continue working with it.

Fun Fact: I am receiving no compensation for this review except for a free addition to my movie collection.

"Meddling Mom" was my favorite out of the two films.  The story line consisted of two girls (one single; one married) who had a VERY overbearing mother.  The mom managed to almost ruin both of their relationships, but in the end found herself falling for a strapping (old) man.

The feature had good acting all around, and the story line was intriguing.  There were a couple of dry spots that took my focus elsewhere, but all-in-all a good movie.  Actually, it's probably a movie I would watch again!  The characters were fun and easy to connect with, and it had a humorous vibe to it.

The storyline of this movie followed a big-city-and-prenup-signing divorcee who was forced to return to her New Jersey hometown after losing everything (except her clothes).  As she continues her life at her dad's bakery, she begins to see that the 'sweeter' life might just be in her small town.

Personally, I found the storyline very fun and interesting.  The acting, however, wasn't as good as "The Meddling Mom".  The main character (Desiree) played by Kathryn Morris didn't have the strength a main character should have.  It often felt like she was over-acting and completely missing the mark.  James Best, the actor who played Paddy (Desiree's father), MADE this movie.  He was so adorable, and always seemed to lighten-up the scene when he was present.  If I ever watch this movie again, it will be greatly influenced by my love of that cute old man: not the main character.

Spoiler Alert: There will be another post!  I hate only uploading a review post, so I'll be back later in the day with a second edition of the Liebster Award!
