100TH POST

It's honestly amazing to think back to where I started.  This blog started as my personal diary for my family and close friends to read.  That was exactly what it was until about April of this year.  I had no idea how large of a community I was just skimming from the side.  Since then I've entered the world of buttons, guest posts, giveaways, advertising, and sponsored posts.  Who knew that a simple Google-Search for more bloggers could lead me here.

For my 100th Post, I decided to look back at my blog and see how far I've come.  As many of you probably don't know, this blog started off as Life By Lizard.  I now cringe anytime someone reminds me of this.  I think I actually ended one of my posts by writing: With Lots of Lizard Love, Lizzy.  I. Hate. Lizards.  Time to move on.

It may sound weird to say that my writing has improved in just a few months, but trust me: it has.  It took a lot of effort for me to share these posts, but I feel like it will be a great look back for you.

My first post ever was during November: the month of thanking.  I decided to write about something/someone I was thankful for every day of the month.  After three days of posts, I mysteriously stopped until I just did a full master post later in the month.  I was and still am bad with commitment.

My first 'actual' post was this one about Overcoming Writer's Block.  I say 'actual' because all of the others were no more than a paragraph long.  I'm more of a 'long post', 'thought-provoking' blogger now.

I've also posted a lot about college and my life there.  I'm one of those 'babies' who always seems to get really homesick.  One day the sadness was a bit too much and I wrote a post about everything that I missed.  I also uncovered the truth behind some well-known college myths, and gave you 100 things to do on a snow day.  Oh, and let's not forget that time I decided to write a post during my accounting class where I over-analyzed what my professor was wearing here and here.

Even though some of my past writings have made me cringe, I do have some favorites that I still go back and read at times.  Sure, my writing could use some work, but I love the messages I was portraying.  These posts were the first ones in my blogging with a purpose (not the link-up):

Good Enough: I talk about a lesson I learned after being declined a job.
#1 Fan of You: I help you create your own fan club.
Frustrated Diaries: Here's the famous rant that turned into my passion

Looking back, I can't believe I wrote some of these posts, but I'm glad I did.  These trial-and-errors have brought me to where I am now, and it's no secret that I'll have more errors in the future.  I'm honestly astonished with how much this has grown.  Some people will look and think; "Geez Lizzy, you don't even have 100 followers; you're making too big of a deal."  This is usually said by a non-blogging friend or family member.  I know that my fellow bloggers will agree with me when I say it doesn't matter how many followers you have on Bloglovin', Twitter, or Facebook.  Honestly, it doesn't even matter how many views you get.  What matters to me is the reaction I get from the few readers I do have.  If even ONE PERSON says they connected with my post in someway; I'm going to have a smile on my face.

Thank you to everyone who has been with me from the beginning or just recently joined this crazy journey.  I truly appreciate the support in my writing!  I hope you all enjoy the new design, and I'll see you all later!

  5. Congrats on reaching 100 posts! As I was reading I went back a read a few of your past posts your mentioned. Personally my favorite was your one about your accounting teacher because it reminds me so much about one of the classes I took last semester. I love your new design and can't wait to see what you have coming for your next 100 posts.
