Why I Don't Post Everyday

As you might have noticed, Lizzy's Luggage doesn't really run on a set schedule.  As much as I would love to have a wonderful post for you every single day, a lot of things get in the way of my writing.  Below I've compiled a list of some things that have stopped me from finishing a post.  This is so that the next time you stroll onto my page and don't see a new update, you'll know why.

1//Homework: Schoolwork is probably the biggest stealer of my time.  I have two to three classes everyday with about an hour or two of homework for each.  Priorities, people.

2//Extra-curriculars:  Unlike last year, I'm involved in a lot of extracurriculars this year.  I'm a DJ for our campus radio station, as well as the head of marketing.  I write for the school newspaper, and I give tours to prospective students once-a-week.  Add-in being a part of the Communications' Department and I'm a busy girl.

3//Writer's Block: My motto is "If it doesn't write itself, it's not good enough to post."  If I have to force myself to finish writing a post, more-than-likely the post isn't very good.  I'm not going to post something that is half-assed. Ever.

4//My Bed: I swear it calls my name.

5//Reading Other Blogs: One thing I love as much as writing posts? Reading other blogs.  I've fallen extremely behind on some of my favorite blogs and that is absolutely unacceptable.  Especially if one of them is Imma Walking Fashion Crime.

6//Movies:  I'm currently obsessed with Star Treck, thanks to my roommate.  Actually, I'm watching it right now.

7//Crisis: The most recent crisis to rock my world is the unfortunate explosion of a watermelon.  My roommate decided to purchase a watermelon in the first week of school.  For some strange reason we decided to hide it in our closet for the time being.  Fast forward to the fifth week of school and you've got a very rotten watermelon.  We are still attempting to get the smell out of our carpet.  Fun fact: rotten watermelon is one of the worst smells ever.  Friends don't let friends buy whole watermelons in college.

8//I'm Lazy: Does this really need any explanation?

9//Dogs: It is nearly impossible for me to write a post at my house.  But who could blame me? My dogs are adorable!

What are some of the things that distract you from the task at hand?

  1. Love this! I didn't know watermelons could explode. Learn something new every day.
Some reasons why I don't blog every day. A husband who constantly interrupts me just as my writing flow is getting started. Two children who are always needing something, a house to clean, food to cook and sheer writers block.

Ya know if life could just stop so I could hammer out two or three posts it would be great. =)

    1. The watermelon incident is one thing I wish I never had to learn. It's becoming a real problem.

I'm not married, nor have children, but I can imagine that they like to take your attention too :)
It would be awesome if time could just pause for us writers :D

  2. Heck ya! There are some weeks I post a lot, some I don't. But, as you've shown, life is most important. So I make sure life comes first and if I've lived, done, loved what I wanted to and still have time remaining then I blog about it. ^_^

    1. I completely agree :D If your normal life is actually just a back-up to your blog life, you're going to run out of interesting things to write :)

    1. I have no idea! Looking back, it's really stupid. We're currently using Baking Soda to try and absorb the smell!

  6. I love this post! I've gotten to the point where I rarely write anything and publish it that day I try to write pre-write everything but I'm still so behind on a lot of my post, especially anything that has to do with my life and stories. A lot of what gets in your way gets in my way as well. I love your blog though and do love to see what you come up with when you do post.
